OIT - Telecommunications and Networking distributes cable television services to residential areas and university buildings on the Columbus campus, and to residential buildings at South Campus Gateway, Mansfield, Newark and Wooster Campuses. Our cable services are not available in some campus locations or in non-university buildings.
Cable TV for Business use in OSU Campus Buildings (Columbus Campus):
Basic Cable Service can be ordered for business and educational use in OSU Columbus Campus buildings.*
Cable TV Rates for OSU Departments and Contractors
Basic Cable is $19.00 per month, per outlet. Additionally, you will be charged a one-time order fee of $34.00, a $10.00 trip charge, a technician fee of $62.00 per hour, and fees for any materials needed to wire the location.* Billing of your installation and monthly cable fees will appear on your monthly FAS statement and billing statement from our office.
Ordering Basic Cable TV for OSU Departments and Contractors
OSU Departments and contractors can order cable television for business use with a Micro form (available in PDF format), a #1303 Requisition, or a #100W form. One or our technicians will be dispatched to your building site to complete the installation. Our technicians will need a clear working space to reach your equipment. Please have your television equipment placed where you want to use it so that ample cable is supplied. The technicians will connect the jumper cable from the wall outlet to your equipment and test the signal before they leave. Please allow at least five business days, from the date we receive your order, for installation of your service.
*NOTE: Some campus buildings may not be wired for cable television service. Installation costs may increase for locations that are not already wired for cable TV. Contact our office, 614-688-HELP (4357), if you have questions regarding availability in your location.
Cable TV in OSU Undergraduate Residence Halls and Other Undergraduate Housing Areas (Columbus Campus):
Students that have signed an undergraduate housing contract with Student Life for one of the Undergraduate Residence Halls, Buckeye Village, or Jones Tower locations will receive Basic (Analog) Cable TV Service as part their housing contract with Student Life. Basic Cable service in undergraduate housing areas will already be active when moving in and no additional fees will be owed to OIT for the service. Additionally, residents living in one of the Undergraduate housing locations can also choose to order several Optional Digital Cable Services from Time Warner Cable.

Cable TV in OSU Graduate, Family, and Professional Housing Areas (Columbus Campus):
OIT distributes Basic Analog Cable TV to residents that live in graduate, professional or family housing areas, such as Jones Tower, Buckeye Village, on the Columbus Campus. Basic (Analog) Cable service is optional in these locations and needs to be ordered from OIT. Residents in several other university-owned or-managed residential locations also have the option to order Basic Cable service from OIT. Residents living in 1578 Neil Building receive Basic (Analog) Cable TV as part of their room contract with Student Life.
Several Optional Digital Cable Services from Time Warner Cable are also available to residents living in OSU's graduate, professional and family housing areas. NOTE: Basic Cable Service from OIT is also required to order any Optional Digital Cable Services from Time Warner Cable.
Basis Cable TV Rates for Residential Customers
Basic Cable is $19.00 per month, per outlet. Additionally, there is a one-time installation fee of $10.00 when ordering cable television services. You will receive a monthly bill from our office for the cable television and other optional services you have requested. We offer you several ways to pay your bill each month, including online credit card payments.
Ordering Basic Cable TV for OSU Residents
Residents in graduate, family and professional or non-traditional campus housing can request Basic (Analog) Cable Service by calling 688-HELP (4357) during business hours to place your request with one of our representatives.
You will also need to complete a service request form. This form allows our technician access to your room or apartment to install your cable television service. Service request forms are available online as part of the order process and at your residence hall desk or apartment rental office.
Our technicians will need a clear working space to reach your television. They cannot move furniture or breakable items. Please have your television placed where you wish to use it so that ample cable is supplied. The technicians will connect the cable from the wall outlet to your television and test the signal before they leave your room.
Please allow approximately five (5) business days after our office receives your cable television order for service to be installed.
