UNITS provides you with touch-tone dialing service. A touch-tone telephone will work best. Telephones that have pulse or rotary type dialing are not recommended since UNITS' Authorization Codes and some features will not work from rotary or pulse type telephones. If you have questions about which type of telephone equipment will work in your room or apartment, call UNITS Customer Service at 614-688-HELP (4357) for assistance.
NOTE: Cordless telephones will work within most residence halls if they are programmed correctly. We recommend a 900mhz phone for best results. Follow the manufacturer's instructions for setting the appropriate frequency.
City Directory Information Through UNITS, you may choose to list your telephone number with Ameritech's City Directory Information. Off-campus callers will be able to dial 411 (local information) and hear a recording of your current telephone number.
Cost per month: $0.90
One-time install fee: None
Handling Harassing or Obscene Telephone Calls
Hang up immediately if a caller uses obscene words or if silence lasts past your second "hello."
If you receive persistent obscene, threatening, or harassing calls, contact the OSU Police Department at 2-2121 to file a formal complaint. OSU Police strongly recommend that you begin keeping a log of dates and times from the start of the harassing calls.
An officer from the OSU Police Department will contact UNITS if our assistance is needed.
