Traditional Long Distance for Business Use

Our Traditional Long Distance service offers low rates and enables you to place domestic and international business calls from most campus telephones.* Calls can be made by either dialing directly or by using an Authorization Code (Auth Code). The long distance rates are the same no matter how you dial the call. You can also use our long distance Auth Code service as an Administrative Calling Card to place long distance calls from off campus locations and when traveling on university business.

Direct Dial Calling

If the campus telephone you are using is not restricted* in anyway, you can dial domestic and international long distance calls directly. Click here for dialing instructions. Direct dial rates are the same as calls placed using our Auth Codes. A direct dial call is billed to the telephone number the call is placed from and will appear on your department’s monthly statement from our office.

*NOTE: You can only place direct dial long distance calls from unrestricted campus phones. Click here for more information on Outgoing Call Capabilities.

Authorization Codes

Authorization Codes (Auth Codes) are ideal for tracking business long distance costs for specific projects or staff. Each staff member or project area can be assigned their own code, based on your department's needs. Any Auth Codes you order will be tied to the specific departmental chart field information you designate and will appear on your department’s statement from us each month.

Auth Codes can be used to place both domestic and international long distance calls from most campus phones** for the same, low domestic and international rates as Direct Dial service. Even better, there are no order fees, monthly fees or minimums when requesting and using an Auth Code. Click here for Auth Code dialing instructions.

The standard usage time assigned to all Auth Codes requested is 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Additional options of 7:00 am to 12:00 midnight and 7:00 am to 6:00 pm, seven days a week can be requested when you order service.

**NOTE: You cannot dial Auth Code long distance calls from "campus only" or "campus and local only" telephones. Click here for more information on Outgoing Call Capabilities.

Long Distance Calling from Off Campus Areas

You can also turn a departmental Auth Code into an Administrative Calling Card to make long distance calls from off campus locations and while traveling in the U.S. and Canada on university business.

Domestic and International Rates*

Our current domestic rate is a nationwide, flat rate of 4.5¢ per minute. This low rate is in effect 24 hours a day, seven days a week to any location in the 50 States from any location in the 50 States or Canada. Our international long distance rates are also in effect 24 hours a day, seven days a week when calling from any location in the 50 States or Canada. There are no sign-up or monthly fees and no minimums.* Plus, after the first 30 seconds, domestic and international calls are billed in six-second increments (except calls to Mexico--which are billed in whole minutes).

*NOTE: Calls placed using the toll free access numbers (1 800 678-6147 & 1 800 652-3971) will incur a $0.55 per call access fee. Calls placed from local payphones using the 292-5500 access number will require the proper coin deposit to initiate the call. The toll free 1 800 678-6147 access number can also be used to place calls from local payphones.

Ordering Auth Codes and Calling Cards

There are no install, order or activation fees when requesting an Auth Code or calling card.
